Alan Cady Obituary

With heavy hearts but warm smiles, we announce the passing of Alan Cady.  Alan was born on February 8,1950, a son of Lewellyn and Eileen O’Hare Cady.  He was a man whose life was as neatly maintained as his lawns and as polished as his beloved cars and cowboy boots. Alan, who left us to embark on his final journey, was a figure larger than life itself, known affectionately in the neighborhood as "Big Al." His presence was as commanding as the roar of the race cars he adored, yet his heart grew as tender as the care he put into keeping a beautiful home.

Alan's passion for racing was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends. A loyal and devoted friend, he was the part of a gang of NASCAR enthusiasts, traveling the country in pursuit of speed and camaraderie. Despite his tough exterior, those who knew Alan recognized a man of deep loyalty, a dedicated friend who loved "his people" with every fiber of his being.

For 48 years, Alan shared a life of adventure and love with his wife, Teresa. Together, they explored the great outdoors of New York, from biking and kayaking to enjoying leisurely walks, always appreciating the beauty around them. Their winters were spent in Florida, where they connected with family and friends, creating memories that now serve as a beacon of joy and comfort.

Professionally, Alan was a respected sprinkler fitter with Local 669, a career spanning 50 years that took him across the United States. No matter how far his work took him, Alan always made his way back home, where he was the proudest supporter on the sidelines of his boys' sports games.

Alan fancied himself a handyman, always ready to take on the challenge of building or creating something new. He claimed, with a twinkle in his eye, to have invented the bicycle rack for cars—a testament to his inventive spirit and love for embellishment.

Alan is survived by his wife, Teresa Cady; son, Brent (Jillian) Cady, twin granddaughters, Payton and Harper of Slingerland, NY, son, Blake Cady of Blackwood, NJ, son, Brock Cady of Brooklyn, NY; brother John (Carol) Cady of Seminole, FL; sisters, Mary Lou (John) Boudet of Slidell, LA, Carolyn (Tony) Schnurr of Austin, TX, Kathleen (Chris) Bean of Brunswick, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Farewell, Big Al. Your race is run, but your memory laps us all, leaving behind a trail of laughter, love, and the unmistakable shine of a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, gifts, or monetary donations, those wishing to honor Alan's memory are encouraged to contribute to Hospice of Central New York, or Blessings in a Backpack #1764 , Care of Prince of Peace Church. Alan was a volunteer for this charity.
