JoAnn Bowers Obituary

JoAnn Marie Bowers, 87, moved on to heaven January 31, 2024.  Mom was born on September 4, 1936, to the late Glen and Lola Salsbury.  Mom was the oldest of three daughters.  She married Robert (Bob) Bowers on her 18th birthday in 1955, celebrating 60 years of marriage until dad’s passing in 2015.  They were life residents of the Fulton area where they raised five boys, Bob, Tommy, Mike, Doug, and Jim.

Mom worked for the Golden Sun Bus Company for 25 years plus as a driver and eventually as a trainer, a position she was very proud of.  She was also a very familiar face at Brannan’s Farm Stand.  Mom worked at the farm stand well into her early 80’s.  She always enjoyed the conversations she would have with her “regular customers”.  You could always tell if one of her former bus students stopped at the stand because of the excitement in her voice afterwards and if one of them referred to her as their bus mom as they did frequently while she drove, she would be gleaming all day.

Mom’s greatest life moments were when she was surrounded by her entire family.  Unfortunately, mom was predeceased by three of her sons, Doug in 2018, Mike in early 2023, and Tom in late 2023.

Mom is survived by her oldest son Bob and his wife Donna, their children, Bobby Bowers, Danielle (Kenny) Harke, great granddaughters Aubrielle Bowers, Madelyn and Teagan Harke; youngest son Jim and his wife Millie, their children, Steven (Kate ) Pryor, great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Pryor, Heidi Giamas, grandchildren, Kelvin and Lucas Giamas; Mike’s children, Jennifer (Zachary) Swanson, great grandsons, Alexander and Daniel Swanson, Ashley Bowers, William Bowers (Kaylee Blackmer), great grandson Bentley Bowers, Emily Bowers; Mike’s widow, Rosemarie Bowers; Doug’s children, Samantha (Brandon Wolf) Bowers, and Benjamin Bowers; her sisters, Karen (Don) Jones and Elaine (Lyle) Edgarton; and several nieces and nephews.

At the convenience of the family, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
