James R. Weston, 62, passed away at home Monday, February 17, 2025. Jim was born in Syracuse, NY to parents Sharon Hothem and Charles (Dick) Weston on July 15, 1962.
Jim was a handicraftsman, a masterful woodworker, and was self employed in construction for most of his life. A true outdoorsman, Jim loved hunting, fishing, and everything about the great outdoors – a love he taught and shared with his children and grandchildren alike. Jim was very skilled and passionate about training hunting dogs. During snow goose season, Jim traveled out west where he worked for Up North Outdoors as a hunting guide for many years, to which he was very dedicated. He always came home with endless amounts of stories to share.
Jim is survived by his wife, Denise Weston; his son, James E. Weston (Desiree Weston); his daughter, Gina Weston (Joe Goehle); his beloved grandchildren, James Weston, Allison Weston, and Luke Goehle; mother, Sharon Hothem, and two siblings, Tim Weston and Michelle Deyo.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Dick Weston, by his grandparents B. Foster and Harriet Walters, and by three loyal hunting dogs.
James A. Menter Funeral Home has care arrangements. As per Jim’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Until then, the family encourages those who knew and loved Jim to get outdoors, go for a hunt, or commemorate Jim in their own way.
