Richard T Burke

Richard (Richie) Thomas Burke, 84, passed away on July 21, 2024. Richard was the son of Thomas and Sabina (Kowal) Burke. Richard graduated from Fulton High School in 1957 and attended college. He then joined the Air Force National Guard in 1963, where he served for 6 years. Richard was affiliated with the CNY Laborers Union until retirement.

Richard was a passionate supporter of all athletics, contributing his time and enthusiasm to the Fulton Athletic Booster Club, which included receiving the David and Judy Trepasso Fan of the Year Award 2015-2016.  He ran many marathons and half marathons, including completing four Boston Marathons. Richard also enjoyed kayaking and bicycling. He loved attending sporting events at SUNY Oswego. Richard loved the NY Yankees and Formula 1 Racing.

Richard was a supporter of the Pratt House, SUNY Oswego Rice Creek Field Station, and Beaver Lake Nature Center.

A private graveside service will be held at the family’s convenience. Richard’s legacy of community support and athletic passion will be remembered by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Fulton Wrestling Club, 940 Emery St., Fulton or Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 East Mudd Lake Rd., Baldwinsville.
