Scott Robert Arnold

Scott Robert Arnold, born October 17, 1975, a beloved son, brother, friend, and shining light to all who knew him, passed away unexpectedly while at his winter home in Florida. A lifelong resident of Fulton, New York, Scott spent his winters as a proud “snowbird” in Edgewater, Florida with his parents, where he quickly became a cherished member of the Edgewater Landing community.

Scott had a rare and beautiful gift — he made people feel seen, welcomed, and happy simply by being himself. His smile lit up every room he entered, and his warmth and witty sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to meet him. To know Scott was to love him.

Scott graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, where he formed many lasting friendships. As a young athlete, he participated in the Special Olympics, where his determination and enthusiasm were always evident. In high school, he served as the varsity boys’ basketball team manager, a role in which he was embraced by the players and coaches as part of the team. Many of those friendships lasted well beyond graduation and remained an important part of Scott’s life throughout the years. His love of sports continued into adulthood, playing on various men’s league teams, including volleyball and softball. Some of his favorite moments were spent playing sports alongside his father, David, and sports remained a source of connection, joy, and friendship throughout his life.

For nearly a decade, Scott worked as a custodian at Universal Metal Works. The Sharkey family, owners of the company, treated Scott as one of their own. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built there, and he was deeply appreciated by everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Scott was also proud to play a role in helping bring the Arnold Family Farm, established in 1906 by his great-grandfather, back to life. Scott was part of the effort to lift it back up and get it running again. The farm was an important part of the Arnold family’s history, and Scott took great pride in being involved in its revival. Whether lending a helping hand or simply enjoying time there with family, the farm represented the deep roots, hard work, and togetherness that meant so much to Scott and those he loved.

Scott is survived by his parents, David and Christine Arnold of Fulton, New York; and his siblings, Stephen Arnold, Joshua Arnold, and Katie Arnold, all of Fulton. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Jeanette Halstead and Alfred “Shoey” and Helen Arnold, all of Fulton. He is also remembered by extended family and many friends whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Scott’s memory to the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS.org).

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.

Scott’s spirit will ripple through the lives of everyone he touched, leaving joy, laughter, and memories that will never be forgotten.
